• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the following set of approvals. The important Cabinet Approvals are given as follows-
  1. Accession to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) Copyright Treaty, 1996 and WIPO Performance and Phonograms Treaty, 1996- The approval is a step towards the objective laid in the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy adopted by the Government on 12thMay 2016 which aims to get value for IPRs through commercialization by providing guidance and support to EPR owners about commercial opportunities of e-commerce through Internet and mobile platforms.
  2. Renewal of MoU between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & Saudi Arabia.
  3. Umbrella Schemes for Relief and Rehabilitation of Migrants and Repatriates- Approval for the continuance of the 8 existing schemes of the Ministry of Home Affairs upto March 2020 for relief and rehabilitation of migrants and repatriates under the Umbrella scheme "Relief and Rehabilitation of Migrants and Repatriates".
  4. Renaming of Agartala Airport, Tripura as Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore Airport, Agartala.
  5. Extension of Scheme of Recapitalization of Regional Rural Banks upto 2019-20- This will enable the RRBs to maintain the minimum prescribed Capital to Risk Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 9%. There are 56 RRBs functioning in the country. As on 31st March, 2017(Prov.), the total credit given by RRBs is Rs.2,28,599 crore.
  6. MoU between India and the United Kingdom on cooperation in the sphere of Law & Justice and establishing a Joint Consultative Committee.
  7.  DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018- The primary intended purpose for enactment of the "DNA Based Technology (Use and Regulation) Bill 2018" is for expanding the application of DNA-based forensic technologies to support and strengthen the justice delivery system of the country.

  1. MoU between India and Indonesia on cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical substances, biological product and cosmetics regulatory functions.
  2. Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) signed in 2010 and approves fresh MRA between the ICAI and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ireland.
  3.  MoU between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, Bahrain.
  4. MoU between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and "National Board of Accountants and Auditors, Tanzania- The MoU will develop a mutually beneficial relationship in the best interest of ICAI members, students and their organizations.
  5. Establishment of Medical College, Salempur at Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.
  6. Policy framework for streamlining the working of Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) in Pre-NELP and NELP Blocks.
  7. Continuation of the Schemes of (i) Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme; (ii) Post Matric Scholarship Scheme; and (iii) Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Scheme for the students belonging to Minority Communities during 2017-18 to 2019-20.
  8. Special Package for Irrigation Projects in Vidarbha, Marathwada and other chronically drought-prone areas of Rest of Maharashtra.
  9. Signing of MoU amongst BRICS Nations on the Regional Aviation Partnership- The objective is that BRICS countries would benefit from the establishment of an institutional framework to cooperate in the field of civil aviation.
  10. MoU between India and Cuba on cooperation in the field of Traditional Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy- The MoU will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of Traditional Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy.
  11. Determination of Fair and Remunerative Price payable by Sugar Mills for 2018-19 sugar season- Cabinet has approved the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for sugar season 2018-19 at Rs. 275/- per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10%; providing a premium of Rs. 2.75/qtl for each 0.1 % increase in recovery over and above 10%. The cost of production of sugarcane for the sugar season 2018-19 is Rs. 155 per quintal.
  •  The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MoU amongst BRICS Nations on the Regional Aviation Partnership Cooperation (RAPC). The objective is that BRICS countries will benefit from the establishment of an institutional framework to cooperate in the field of civil aviation. The MoU signifies an important landmark in the civil aviation relations between India and other BRICS Member States and has the potential to spur greater trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchanges amongst the BRICS Nations. 
  • The Parliament approved a legislation to help the government bring back fugitives involved in white-collar crimes to stand trial in India. The fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018 will become law after the President’s assent and will empower the government to seize both local and overseas assets of alleged offenders, such as Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
