• China has successfully launched a hyperspectral imaging satellite 'Gaofen-5' for comprehensive observation of the atmosphere, including air pollution which is one of the country's major problems. The Gaofen-5 satellite was launched off the back of a Long March 4C rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.
  • Indian Army’s month-long Vijay Prahar exercise concluded in Suratgarh, Rajasthan. It was conducted by South Western Command of Indian Army. The exercise was aimed to orchestrate wide spectrum of threats including  Nuclear, Chemical or Biological (NCB) attack which are planned to be tackled through high tempo joint air and land operation.
  • The California-based aerospace company, SpaceX has blasted off its most powerful Falcon 9 rocket, which is certified to carry humans to space later this year. The Block 5 Falcon 9 rocket’s main goal for its maiden mission is to propel the first high-orbit communications satellite for Bangladesh, called Bangabandhu Satellite-1.
  • The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), which had conceived and designed the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, has set the ball rolling for building the next generation defence aircraft, the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), by extending an invitation to private players in Coimbatore to build a technology demonstrator.
  • Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN-XIII between India and Nepal will be conducted at Pithoragarh, UttarakhandExercise SURYA KIRAN is a biannual event which is conducted alternatively in Nepal and India.
  • The Indian Navy commissioned the IN LCU L54, the fourth ship of Landing Craft Utility MK-IV, into its fleet at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar. The ship was commissioned by Vice Admiral GS Pabby, AVSM, VSM and Chief of Materiel. 
  • The joint military exercise SURYA KIRAN-13 between India and Nepal began at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. The military exercise is a biannual event which is conducted alternatively in Nepal and India every six months.
  • As many as 26 countries, including India, will participate in the biennial Rim of the Pacific, RIMPAC military exercise, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The announcement was made by the Pentagon. It is the world’s largest international maritime exercise.
