  •  Spiritual leader Dada Vaswani passed away at the age of 99 in Pune, Maharashtra. He was chief of Sadhu Vaswani Mission in Pune that is named after his uncle TL Vaswani.
  • Kannada poet and film song lyricist M.N. Vyasa Rao passed away in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He was 73.He was also a recipient of the Karnataka Rajya Sahitya Academy award for his short story collection titled Maleyalli Neneda Maragalu. 
  • Veteran actor Rita Bhaduri passed away after fighting a kidney-related ailment for many days. She was 62 years old. 
  • Hindi poet Gopal Das Neeraj passed away in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. He was 94. His famous poetic works include Asawari, Lahar Pukare and Paran Geet.
  •  Ramchandra Singhdeo, former and first Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh, passed away in Raipur. 
  • Los Angeles Times and Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold passed away at 57.
  •  Veteran sports journalist Swapan Sarkar passed away due to diabetic complications. He was 67 years old. 
  • Acclaimed Bengali writer Ramapada Chowdhury, whose story 'Abhimanyu' was made into a Hindi movie 'Ek doctor ki maut', passed away. Chowdhury was 95. He was conferred with the Sahitya Academy award for 'Bari badle jay' in 1988.
