•  Timothy Pereira, former football international who represented Tata FC, died after a prolonged illness. Pereira was 75. He played for the country in 1967-68. Pereira also played hockey and represented Catholic Gymkhana in the local league.
  • Odisha's most popular lyricist, Narayan Prasad Singh was popularly known as 'Rasaraj' passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar. Singh was 86.
  • Senior journalist and writer Adiraju Venkateswara Rao passed away. He was 79.  Rao worked in different Telugu and English newspapers. He also authored several books.
  • Noted mimicry artiste Nerella Venumadhav had passed away after a brief illness in Warangal city. He was 85.
  • United States political commentator and Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Krauthammer passed away at the age of 68. The columnist died of cancer of the small intestine.
  • Australian golfing legend Peter Thomson has passed away aged 88 following a battle with Parkinson's disease.He was the only player since the turn of the 20th century to win golf's oldest major championship three times in a row. 
  • Award-winning American poet and writer Donald Hall passed away at the age of 89. He was the United States Poet Laureate for 2007-’08 and received the Robert Frost Medal in 1991 and the National Medal of Arts, the nation’s highest honour for artists, in 2010.
