Cabinet approved moving a Resolution in the ISA amending the Framework Agreement of the ISA for expanding ISA membership to United Nations member nations
  1. On November 1, 2018, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved moving a Resolution for amendment in the first Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
  2. This amendment would enable the Framework Agreement of the ISA for opening up the ISA membership to all countries that are members of the United Nations.
  3. It will make ISA inclusive, whereby all member countries that are members of the United Nations could become member.
Cabinet approved MoU between India and Korea for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism-
  1. On November 1, 2018, the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and South Korea. The MOU seeks cooperation in the field of Tourism.MoU involves Bilateral cooperation,
  2. Exchanges in personnel and information,
  3. Cooperation between tourism stakeholders including Hotels and Tour Operators,
  4. Investment in the Tourism and Hospitality sectors,
  5. Exchange Visit for promotion of two-way tourism,
  6. Participation in travel fairs/exhibitions in each other’s country,
  7. Promoting safe, honorable and sustainable tourism.

  • UP govt in partnership with Japan to develop ‘food value chain’
  1. On October 30, 2018, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet presided over by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cleared a proposal for the development of ‘Food Value Chain’ in the state.The ‘Food Value Chain’ will be developed by:UP government and Japan’s agriculture, forestry and fisheries department.Under the agreement, in the first five years, Japanese companies will invest in agri-related and food-related industries.
  2. Other cabinet approvals: The Cabinet also decided to purchase 3,174 metric tonnes of sugar for devotees going to 2019 Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. 2.To boost one district, one product, common facility centres will be established in districts. The centres will have testing laboratories and design centres. 3.It gave its approval for construction of Queen Ho memorial in Ayodhya, which will incur a cost of Rs 24 crores. 4. It also gave its approval to amend UP Motor Vehicles Manual, 1998. According to this: 4-wheeler taxis to have a sky-blue strip on them, CNG three-wheelers should be green in colour, Electric vehicles should be white and The bike taxis cannot be painted maroon, black or red.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved 100% strategic disinvestment of the government's equity in the Dredging Corporation of India Ltd. Presently, the government of India holds 73.44% shares in Dredging Corporation of India Limited.
  • Union Cabinet gave its approval to Amendment to the Central Universities Act, 2009 for setting up of Central Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh. Cabinet also approved leasing out six airports, namely Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru for operation, management, and development under Public Private Partnership.

  5. Apprised of the MoU between Atal Innovation Mission, India and Fund “Talent and Success”, Russia for the promotion of science & technology.
  6. MoU with Mauritius on Consumer Protection and Legal Metrology.
  7. Setting up of Medical College at Silvassa in the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  8. Commemoration of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji- 1.Cabinet approves: Implementation of the umbrella scheme “Atmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services”,2.Sub-schemes to continue during 2017-20; and3. National Facility for Airborne Research(NFAR) to be set up.
